An Interview with Scenar Therapist Christina Morrison

Nearly six and a half years ago, Christina Morrison and her work with Scenar changed my life. Below is an interview with her about her journey as a healer using this remarkable healing tool.

Penny: What is your background that you think led you to Scenar?

Christina: I’ve been on a healing path my whole life…. always involved with healing arts in some way.  I was a licensed massage therapist in Texas for the past 10 years.  I’m certified in polarity, rebirthing, and cranial-sacral therapy.  I worked in two destination wellness spas for years, practicing massage, Thai massage, aromatherapy, Ayurveda, hydrotherapy, and chakra balancing. Prior to that, I studied movement therapy and taught dance. All those modalities were wonderful, but I wanted to help people heal and change in even deeper and more lasting ways.

Penny: What gifts, experiences, or interests drew you toward alternative healing?

Christina: I’ve always loved touch.  I love receiving massage and also sharing that experience with others.  I lost my brother to cancer when he was only 16…. and he spent a lot of time in hospitals.   That was a very painful experience that inspired me to pursue alternative healing.   I’ve also had some chronic conditions that kept me searching for relief.  I’ve experienced all kinds of healing art forms… and everything that’s helped me, I’ve shared with others.

Penny:  How did you encounter the Scenar?

Christina:  I took a workshop in 2003 from a Scenar practitioner who was also an acupuncturist.  He said it was one of those rare tools that could “raise the dead!”  That was a bit of an exaggeration but it definitely got my attention.  He found that Scenar treated his clients faster and more effectively than acupuncture.  It was not like anything I’d encountered before.  Here I was using a mechanical tool… a very different experience for a “naturalist” like me!   I was leery at first, but when I started seeing amazing results, I was convinced.

Penny:  What are some of the more dramatic results you’ve seen in working with the Scenar?

Christina: A client came to me with extreme fatigue and brain fog to the point of having brain scans. She was having trouble putting sentences together and no one could figure out what was wrong.  I’d just been trained on Denas Scenar and wasn’t sure I could help her.  Fortunately, Scenar shows where the dysfunction is, so I worked on the areas revealed: her neck and the back of her head. She came in hardly able to get up the stairs and left feeling great!  After eight sessions she had her full energy and cognition back. That amazed us both. I also saw a client who’d had a stroke that left her numb on one side of her body. After fourteen sessions she regained full sensation and her balance also improved. And then, of course, there was you.

Penny: Yes, you worked with me twice and I was so impressed with my improvement, I decided to buy one in order to continue to work on myself. My story can be found on the About page of this blog.

Christina: I’ve only had one person who experienced no results. They had neuropathy, which is when nerves die.  Everyone else I’ve worked with has had good results. I’ve worked with several hundred people and have seen it over and over relieve pain, restore function, improve energy levels, and enhance mood and a sense of well being.  Scenar causes the release of neuropeptides which the body uses to heal itself, including endorphins, which relieve pain and improve mood.  But it’s worth owning a device if all you ever did was neutralize insect bites and stings!  Living in Texas, I really appreciated that.  I’ve completely eliminated all effects of stings, including scorpions, in minutes.

SCENAR and the FDA

In 2002, the FDA accepted the SCENAR into the country as a Class II Medical Device used for biofeedback and muscle relaxation. From what I understand, FDA approval can be gained in two ways: (1)the device is developed in this country and the developers conduct studies and research as to its efficacy which is submitted to the FDA for approval, or (2) a device from another country can be shown to have the same action and effect as a device developed and previously approved in this country.

RITM OKB ZAO is the company that manufactures the RITM SCENAR for Dr. Alexander Revenko who was one of the two lead researchers in the development of the SCENAR in the Russian Space Program. This company applied for approval from the FDA by showing that it is essentially the same machine as the InterX5000 that was developed by Neuro Resource Group, located in Plano, Texas. Appropriate research and studies were conducted by NRG and their device was approved by the FDA. RITM OKB ZAO was able to show that the RITM SCENAR that they originally developed and began manufacturing in 1980 is the same device as the Interx5000 and was granted FDA approval on that basis on May 28, 2010.

Now that the RITM SCENAR is FDA approved, there are new requirements that must be adhered to:

1) To purchase a RITM SCENAR for home use, a prescription from a licensed MD must be obtained. The downside is that few MDs have any awareness of the device, so until they are educated, getting a prescription may be difficult. The upside is that with FDA approval, the purchase of the device may be covered by insurance, which may make it worth your while to educate your doctor yourself in order to get a prescription.

2) Previous to FDA approval, one could purchase a RITM professional device, get trained on it (which can be expensive and difficult to arrange), and then set up an office and practice. Since FDA approval, only those with licenses in the medical field such as MDs, Physical Therapists, Biofeeback practitioners, Massage Therapists, etc., can set up offices to provide SCENAR therapy. If you don’t have a license, you must still be trained and experienced in using the SCENAR, but you can only provide SCENAR treatments in the offices of those who are licensed.

Healing Innovations uses the RITM SCENAR device. Our practitioners are trained at the Advanced Level by Dr. Alexander Revenko, have 6 years of experience, and work in the offices of those who are licensed in the medical field. Call us at 828-337-6854 and let us see what SCENAR can do for you.

Healing Innovations Update

Likely you have noticed that I have been unusually “quiet” these last couple of months. My experiences with providing SCENAR treatments have expanded, and with that expansion, my time to write or gather my thoughts enough to write, has been limited. But, what I am doing is inspiring, and I, at least, wanted to share that.

Starting last May, I began collaborating with Mountain Air Wellness Center (a natural health center that has offices in Asheville, Cashiers, Highlands, and Franklin) to provide SCENAR treatments for their patients. The Center provides a comprehensive wellness venue that involves a number of interventions for promoting health. Led by Dr. Jim Johnson, Dr. Resa Falk, and Dr. Sue Aery, the center offers nutritional counseling, acupuncture, massage, Graston technique, and chiropractic care, just to name a few. Their commitment to their patients, continuing education in the field, and desire to provide the best possible interventions for natural health and healing are exemplary. The staff are wonderfully professional, caring, competent, and positive which makes for a sense of welcome, comfort, and “home”. If you are from that area or have friends and family there, this natural health practice provides a state of the art opportunity for  holistic health care. SCENAR treatment has proved to be a collaboration that has been  of great benefit to their patients. Their vision of providing high quality natural health care is a pleasure to be a part of. This may sound like an ad, but it is based in my experience of working closely with the various practitioners and staff in their Cashiers and Highlands offices. They have become my personal “natural health home.”

My practice in Asheville at Asheville Natural Health and Homeopathy has also expanded. I have two office days on Wednesday and Saturday to provide SCENAR treatments. Working with Dr. Steven Coward, Dr. Louise Bahnson, and Dr. Leanne Apfelbeck has also been a wonderful collaboration. Working with these committed professionals in the field of natural health is a pleasure. Within this practice, Healing Innovations is expanding to include another SCENAR practitioner, Christina Morrison, who has been trained by Dr. Revenko and has 7 years of experience with providing SCENAR therapy.  Another office day is being planned so that SCENAR therapy can be offered in Asheville three days a week.

The awareness of this unique and effective treatment is growing. Healing Innovations is expanding in order to provide the best possible opportunities to those who are interested in experiencing for themselves this remarkable pain relief and healing modality. Call 828-337-6854 for an appointment to see what SCENAR can do for you.

SCENAR Training with Dr. Revenko and Dr. Subbotina

revenko subbotina

The next SCENAR training with Dr. Revenko and Dr. Subbotina in Fort Worth will be held March 18-27. For those of you who are interested in training from the premier international trainers on the RITM SCENAR, this is the most important experience in developing your skills that you will find. Our experience of this training last April far exceeded our expectations, and the application of all that we learned has improved the outcomes for our clients dramatically. The training also opened our eyes to the relationship of SCENAR and quantum energy medicine theory. It is worth whatever must be done to take advantage of this opportunity.

The first SCENAR training program was developed by Dr. Revenko in 1992. Since then this program has been continuously enhanced by new methods as the new products were designed. But the basic principals of the treatment remain the same because they are based on the nature of human beings and on the philosophy of human energy fields. Dr. Revenko’s program includes all SCENAR techniques known up to this point. Moreover, it gives not only the methodology of using the device, but the philosophy of energy healing technology. Of this, Dr. Revenko says: “I am presently developing a deeper clarity on how to present that SCENAR therapy is not electrotherapy with biofeedback, but the interaction of energy-information between two systems and intellects – the operator and the patient – requiring the active participation of the patient as well as the practitioner. Therefore, all disciplines that similarly work with energy-information influences and interact with the organism of the person – such as acupuncture, cranial osteopathy, homeopathy, ayurveda, etc. (where the practitioner treats the patient with SCENAR and another complementary skill) this combination will help and intensify the effects and work toward correcting the complaints and problems of the patient.”

In the SCENAR world, getting good training is difficult. It is important to research possible trainers as to whether or not they themselves have trained with and are sanctioned in their training of others by Dr. Revenko and his International SCENAR Academy. One can easily learn dubious information that may have to be unlearned when training with Dr. Revenko himself. Although the basic operation of the SCENAR is stable information, the nuances of providing effective treatment is a subtle combination of your own experience and the insight of the trainers you use. There is much more to being effective than the basic information of operating the instrument. In fact, learning to use the SCENAR effectively is an ever evolving process, and it is important to have the latest information from the developer himself.

If you have a year or two of experience, it will be worth your while to take Dr. Subbotina’s basic class in order to make sure that any previous training you have had is accurate. Dr. Subbotina is an excellent trainer, who speaks English, which is advantageous. She has an openness and personal warmth that is delightful. When we took her Cosmetology class, we learned a wealth of information related to the history of natural medicine from the East and the West, as well as how to use the SCENAR within the body’s natural cycles and important detoxing protocols such that the lifting protocols used will be most effective. Cosmetology using the SCENAR is far more than just working with the lifting protocols.

By taking this training, you can anticipate a learning experience you will never forget, and one that will enhance your skills with the SCENAR immensely. We wholeheartedly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. For more information, visit the Tomatex website.

SCENAR Training with Dr. Revenko

There will be another training with Dr. Revenko this weekend in Stamford, Connecticut. Check out the details here. The training on Scoliosis is a great opportunity to learn from the master.

SCENAR History Stories

Having hung out in the “SCENAR world” for the last five years, I’ve learned some interesting history of the device, both from those who know, as well as rumor. I have pieced together this perspective.

When we took the Masters Level Training with Dr. Revenko and his wife, Dr. Galina Subbotina (who taught the Cosmotology class), we spent 11 hours a day with them for three days. We had some time, before and after class and on breaks, to hang out with them. Dr. Revenko speaks little English, but his wife is very fluent.

On a break, I asked Dr. Subbotina how Dr. Revenko and Dr. Karasev (the engineer in the SCENAR space program) got together over the development of the SCENAR.

This is the story she told me:

Dr. Karasev originally developed the technology. When he felt like he had the device to where he could present it for funding for further development, he went to several government agencies as was turned down because of lack of research. So, he went to Dr. Revenko, the head of the neurology department at the university where Karasev was a student. Dr. Revenko also turned him down. That evening Dr. Revenko was the last to leave the office and when he stepped into the waiting area, there was Karasev.

Karasev asked him to just look at the device, give it a chance, before he decided he wasn’t interested. So, they talked and Revenko took the device home with him. He was intrigued with it. The next day when Karasev arrived, Revenko had a list of questions about what Karasev might be able to add to the way the machine worked. Karasev had the updated device to him the next day. Impressed, Revenko asked for another amendment which Karasev delivered. This happened a few times. Then they teamed up to do the preliminary research and to later present the device to the government for funding. They were funded and together set up the top secret SCENAR Russian Space Program. They ran it until Peristroika shut the program down.

So, this is what I’ve been able to piece together from my immersion in this field. What I write below is not verifiable but it makes an interesting story. It has come from reading and talking to other SCENAR practitioners.

After the SCENAR space program shut down, Karasev offered for Revenko to take the prototype and develop it, because he wanted to develop his own line of SCENAR devices. Revenko took the prototype and developed the RITM SCENAR. Karasev set up his own company and has created his own line of SCENARs.

The two men have very different ideas about how the machine should be used most effectively. Karasev believes that the machine should be capable of doing the treatment itself with little input from the operator. Revenko believes that a well trained and experienced pratitioner is central to the effectiveness that can be achieved. Karasev wants every home to have one in their first aid kit. Revenko sees the the machine being most effectively used in a therapeutic office environment with a skilled practitioner.

In reality, the RITM and Let Medical machines are being used by practitioners as well as by people at home. We use one of Karasev’s SCENARs as well as the RITM SCENAR in our treatments. Each machine has its strengths. We like both of them for different reasons and the combination seems to work well in our sessions.

I have read that what motivated Karasev to develop the SCENAR was the loss of two of his relatives to a disease that devastated his home town. He wanted to create something that would protect and promote health. Revenko is a doctor and an educator, both fields endeavoring to improve the well being of others. The SCENAR has had an organic evolution. It was not developed as a “get rich quick” quackery device. Our FDA accepted it into this country as a Class II Medical Device in 2003.

Healing Innovations was created out of our desire to share this amazing technology and help people to achieve pain relief and renew their sense of well being.
