The Quantum Activist

What an enticing name!

This post is a bit off topic, but not really. Because the action of SCENAR can be explained by the biochemical/mechanical idea (nerves releasing neuropeptides that heal an area) and acupunture (its energetic affect on the meridians and meridian points), as well as “quantum medicine”, bioenergetics and body energetic “fields”;  the application of the “quantum” idea has become fascinating to me.

The latest documentary to arrive on the scene is called The Quantum Activist. Because of its arrival, I have created a page to continue the exploration of quantum ideas called Quantumly Curious? You will find there more information about this new documentary, and there will be ongoing posts as new information is discovered about the application of “quantum” to anything that my research efforts can produce.

Chronic Pain + SCENAR = Relief

Chronic pain is difficult. It can take the pleasure out of living. Most of the people who come to Healing Innovations have long standing pain for which they have tried all manner of things to relieve it. Although the process for treating chronic pain with the SCENAR reqires more time, it can bring relief where hope was lost (see our “What Our Clients Say” page).

We can categorize the issues people bring to us into four main areas: low back/hip, neck/shoulder, knees, and extremities like foot, wrist or hand pain. Treatments involve working not only with the direct area of pain, but also with the body as a whole to reawaken it to the problem. Chronic pain conditions emerge from poor healing of an injury usually as a result of repetitive stress on the area (it’s hard not to walk even though the knee/foot/hip is complaining about it). The body seems to “forget” about healing chronic areas. It can’t seem to get ahead of the reinjuring that is going on, so it does its best to “stablize” the area. This is when pain becomes chronic.  All the while the pain fibers are always doing their job of alerting your consciousness to a problem your body is having. You are conscious of the problem, but your body may have disconnected from the area to the degree that there are no signals getting out to alert it that the area needs healing. The SCENAR simply awakens it. Once awakened, the body goes about what it does to heal itself.

That sounds simple, but chronic pain issues are very complex. For example, the SCENAR can only provide temporary relief if there is a structural problem that needs correcting. Other modalities such as chiropractic or osteopathic care can speed the healing that SCENAR treatments initiate by correcting structural problems that are underneath the issue of pain. SCENAR works very well in concert with physical therapy as well, both to relieve the pain that sometimes results from PT treatments, but also mobilze the body’s resouces toward recovery.

There are things that an individual can do to minimize their chronic pain. On the “Healing Tips” page are suggestions about how to release your own neuropeptides, among them being endorphins which stop pain. There are also instructions on how to do a mindfulness meditation that may be helpful.

If you have chronic pain and want to try SCENAR to see what it can do for you, call us at 828-337-6854 for a free 30 minute introductory session.

Natural Treatment and Prevention of Swine Flu

There is a protocol for the SCENAR to prevent Swine Flu which will be included for those of you who own SCENARs at the end of this post.

In researching natural ways of treating Swine Flu, we encountered  an article about using homeopathics. Homeopathic remedies were used for treating the 1918 flu (of which today’s swine flu is thought to be derived). The article states that among people who used homeopathic remedies the mortality rate was 1%.  For those who used traditional allopathic remedies the mortality rate was 28%.

There are many who are concerned about the swine flu vaccine’s safety and efficacy. The threat of mandatory vaccination has the conspiracy theorists in a tizzy.

If you decide to treat with homeopathics, it is always best to consult a homeopathic practitioner first. However, the article suggests the following:

Gelsemium- for those who have the flu and are experienceing intense muscle aches and soreness

Aconite- for high fever

Arsenicum album- helps with early respiratory symptoms

Baptista- helps with diarrhea

Eupatorium perf- for severe coughing

Special SCENAR Application for COLD and FLU prevention, including SWINE FLU prophylaxis

Just received this protocol to enhance immune functioning from Tomatex where we had our training with Revenko, so thought I would pass it along.

Since there are three types of machines being used out there, I will write the instructions for the DENAS and the 035M which are the same and put the instructions for the RITM in parenthesis. Comment if you have questions.

The protocol is to be done morning and evening every other day or so and every day if you think you have been exposed:

Morning

1. Hold the SCENAR over the Suprasternal Notch (location of the Thymus gland) in constant mode (Diag O or Swing 1), at a comfortable sensation level for 5 minutes.

2. Hold SCENAR over the Xiphoid process in constant mode (Diag O or Fm+) at a slightly higher than comfortable sensation level for 3 minutes.

3. Stroke the liver area in constant mode (Diag O or Fm+) at a comfortable sensation level for 5 minutes. Don’t treat asymmetries that may come up.

4. Hold SCENAR on C7 (the bump at the base of the neck on the spine) in constant mode (Diag O or Swing1) at a comfortable sensation for 2 minutes.

5. Repeat step 1

Evening

6. Hold SCENAR on Suprasternal Notch (location of Thymus Gland) in constant mode (Diag O or Swing1) at a comfortable sensation level for 3 minutes.

7. Stroke liver area in constant mode (Diag O or Fm+) at a comfortable senstaion level for 5 minutes. Don’t treat any asymmetries that may come up.

8. Hold SCENAR on C7 in constant mode (DiagO or Swing1) at a comfortable sensation level for 2 minutes.

9. LI4 Acupuncture Point-HeGu in the middle of the 2nd metacarpal bone on the radial side between the hand and the thumb (also known as the “headache point”). Hold SCENAR on this point in constant mode (Diag O or Fm+) at a comfortable sensation level for 12 minutes.

If you are using the RITM, you can get more bang for your buck by using Fm+ and Swing1 in alternating ways to keep the body more alert to the influence thereby creating more of a response.

Stay well, all of you!

The Living Matrix Part 3

So, here is the third question from the notes found on the Living Matrix facebook webpage. It is a bit of a “big bite” of information, so grab a cup of tea and settle in for an interesting read. These guys really have done a good job with this information.

What is bioenergetic medicine?

To understand bioenergetic medicine, you have to connect some dots that conventional medicine leaves unconnected. We know that all living things emit energy in the form of electromagnetic frequencies. We measure these frequencies in the heart with the electrocardiographs (ECGs) and in the brain with electroencephalographs (EEGs). In fact, magneto encephalographs (MEGs) measure these frequencies in the brain without even touching the body, so we even acknowledge that these frequencies extend beyond the body; that they are being broadcast outside your physical structure. Next, when quantum physics was discovered 80 years ago, physicists understood that matter, including the human body, is simply energy – energy structured within a specific form. That’s a lot of energy moving through the human body, and thousands of years ago, these fields of energy were central to our understanding of health and wellness. That was when many practitioners understood how these systems of energy interacted with the physical and chemical systems of the body to make us well, and how the disruption of these interactions made us ill. However, when scientists wanted to record the univers in measurable terms, they separated it into components that they could label: the mind from the body, people from each other, and space from time. Newton further defended the notion of the human body as a separate machine, the heart as a stand-alone mechanical pump, the brain as a distinct repository of information, and DNA as the only information the body needed to operate. Because the machines to measure and label energy were generations away, modern scientists defended the ultimate and most damaging separation of all: the separation of energy from biology and the omission of information from energy.

Eastern medicine continued to thrive on an understanding of the role of energy in human biology; Western medicine wanted evidence before it would reconsider.

Bioenergetic medicine brings back together the body’s energy systems with its chemical and physiological systems to reestablish a comprehensive understanding of human biology. And because we are all connected to and influenced by our environment, this energy exchange also includes the transfer of energy between the humban body’s energy field and all other things around us that also emit energy. Because we now have ways to measure the human body’s energy fields and because scientists have studied and recorded evidence of energy healing, conventional medicine now has the opportunity to be more receptive to its effectiveness. It is called “bio” energy to reinforce its connection to, not separation from, biology.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine is such a broad term, and CAM practices are numerous and differ so widely. Also, a lot of skepticism surrounds the field. Where does bioenergetic medicine fit in this evolving area of health care?

Indeed, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is evolving. All over the world, more people are choosing CAM options than ever before. In the United States and the UK especially, regulation agencies are studying alternative health care practices. A simple search on the internet will produce scores of websites to learn about them all. Bioenergetic medicine, however, is the only CAM practice based on scientific evidence. It begins with an established science – quantum physics – and brings a new science to bear on the evidence of effectiveness.

For example, in 1974, German biophysicist Fritz-Albert Popp discovered that light is constantly being absorbed and remitted by DNA molecues within each cell’s nucleus. These bio-photons create a dynamic, coherent web of light and are the reason that the pain of a stubbed toe instantly affects every other cell in the body. Technology has advanced now to be able to program holographic bands and discs with bio-photons, bio-frequencies, and bio-digital-information that allows the body (through its energy field) to achieve balance, which is synonymous with being healthy.

New scientific research measures the correlation between the intention of one person and the physiological activity of another. The Living Matrix features the results of one particular study in which sequestered cancer patients produced a physiological response to random compassionate intentions of their spouses, and these responses were recorded by electromagnetic devices attached to the patients’ bodies.

The Living Matrix features other new scientific studies that underscore the evidence of energy as a key component of human biology. In fact, when modern medicine begins to incorporate bioenergetic principles into its approach to care for the sick and promote well being among the healthy, the impact on the medical system will be revolutionary.

That they mention currently existing techonolgies that use “bio-frequencies, and bio-digital-information that allows the body (through its energy field) to achieve balance, which is synonymous with being healthy” sounds like the SCENAR (as well as other technologies I’ve seen) to me!

Balance

Webster’s dictionary defines balance as the state of equilibrium between contrasting, opposing, or interacting elements. From planetary ecological balance to being able to stand up on our feet, balance is a delicate, intricate, and wonderfully orchestrated cornerstone of our outer and inner reality. We ignore this cornerstone at our own peril.

In our work with SCENAR great attention is paid to assisting the body in returning to its inner state of balance or homeostasis. This involves working with the autonomic nervous system which, for the most part, operates without our conscious control. It maintains the internal balance of the organs and systems in response to external stimuli.

There are two aspects to the autonomic nervous system: the sympathetic system (often called the “fight or flight” response) and the parasympathetic system (called the “rest and digest” response). These two aspects operate in opposition to one another. When one is operating, the other one isn’t. When you are running from a saber tooth tiger, the last thing you want to do is “rest and digest.” Ideally, there is a balance between the systems based on the fluctuations of conditions. The sympathetic system keeps us alert and responding to the environment in ways that promote our survival, and the parasympathetic system rests, heals, and restores the body from all the activity required by the sympathetic system. The sympathetic system uses up the resources of the body and the parasympathetic system recovers and restores those resources to be available if needed again.

Our modern world challenges our bodies in maintaining the balance between these two systems. In general we are inundated with demands, information, time urgency, conflicts, and confusion that our bodies interpret as being threats to our survival. We worry and feel anxious, angry, resentful, or frustrated. We don’t have time to attend to eating well, resting, relaxing, and even when we try to rest or relax we are still ruminating about the issues. The parasympathetic system is shut down. Our bodies are in a near constant slow sympathetic system boil. We have a word for this: STRESS. We have lost our inner balance. Living too long in this state leads to disease as the body is unable to heal itself.

When the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems are working as they should, the tendency is to rest often and easily. One can, however, perform at “peak ability” with equal ease. When challenged by stress, the balanced person is able to respond with vigor and fortitude. The parasympathetic system reduces the activity of the brain, the muscles, and the adrenal and thyroid glands. When no situation is pressing, the balanced person can comfortably choose to rest and can sleep deeply. They engage in lifestyles that allow the body to be nourished and restored.

When we are stressed and the sympathetic system is dominating, the sensations of pain are amplified. The SCENAR addresses pain by activating the parasympathetic system which releases neuropeptides to address the pain and restore the inner balance. In only a few minutes of treatment people will visibly relax. After a few sessions, very frequently people will become interested in taking better care of themselves and talk about ways they can do that. They also usually have an overall improvement in their mood. It is amazing to watch. (Read about some of our clients’ experiences on the “What Our Clients Say” page.)

If you are stressed and in pain, you might want to look into experiencing a SCENAR treatment series. It could make a big difference not just in your pain but in your overall health and sense of well being.

2oo7 National CAM Use Study

Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) is a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products such as herbal supplements, meditation, chiropractic, and acupuncture that are not generally considered to be part of conventional medicine. The CAM component of this most recent National Health Interview Survey was developed by the NCCAM (the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine-  http://nccam.nih.gov/news/camstats/costs ). The last survey of this type was done in 2002. This study data was released July 31. The study was conducted in 2007.

In analyzing the costs, it was found that CAM accounts for approximately 1.5% of total health care expenditures in this country and 11.2% of total out-of-pocket expenditures for health care. Americans spent 33.9 billion dollars on CAM over the past 12 months which accounts for slightly more than one-tenth of the out-of-pocket health care dollars spent. This represents an equivalent of one quarter of the total out-of-pocket spending on physician visits. The survey showed about 35 cents of each alternative therapy dollars was for visits to alternative healthcare practitioners. Purchases of  natural non-vitamin, non-mineral products is equivalent to approximately one-third of total out-of-pocket spending on prescription drugs.  More than one-third of adults (38.3%) use alternative medicine.

In looking at the data between 2002 and 2007 some interesting stabilities and shifts in the data can be noted. CAM is still predominantly used for pain treatment, especially back and neck pain. However, in 2002, consumers used CAM for head and chest cold treatment (9.5%) at a much higher rate than in 2007 (2%). In 2002 the most popular non-vitamin/non-mineral products used were echinacea (40.3%), gingseng (24.1%), ginko (21.7%), and garlic (19.9%). In 2007, consumers were using fish oils/omega 3 (37.4%), glucosamine (19.9%), echinacea (19.8%) and flaxseed (15.9%). All but one (echinacea) of the top four products used in 2007 were not even on the list in 2002. Soy supplements, which in 2002 were at the bottom of the list (9.4%), did not appear on the 2007 list.

There was a 2.3% increase in adult use of CAM between 2002 and 2007. The greatest use being among those age 30-69, and the highest percentage of those being age 50-59 (44.1%).

The 2007 survey included data about use of CAM by children. The most common therapies used were natural products, chiropractic/osteopathic, deep breathing, and yoga. Disease conditions for which CAM is most frequently used for children are back/neck pain, head/chest colds, and anxiety/stress.

SCENAR is considered a part of the CAM practice of biofeedback. It is good for treating pain, anxiety and stress, as well as promoting overall well being.

A Deeper Dive Into How SCENAR Works

The purpose of SCENAR is an activation of adaptive reaction by the reserves of the body. It does so by influencing the body in a non-invasive way via the skin. The skin plays a very important role in the regulation of the body’s systems as it is the interface between the body and the environment. The skin and nervous system originated from the same layer of ectoderm during embryogenesis. The skin keeps all of the information on the function and condition of the nervous system.

The SCENAR affects the skin and is influenced by the reaction of the skin. The skin resistance changes according to internal changes that are the result of the body’s metabolism. The SCENAR reads and reacts to the internal metabolic changes as represented in the skin impedance, and forms a bi-polar signal similar to a nautral neuro impulse. Using this biofeedback process, the device modifies its next signal to either amplify or dampen the pathological signal as required. If the signal from the body is that of a chronic condition, the SCENAR amplifies the body’s signal to alert it to the dysfunction (stimulation). If the signal is one of an acute situation, the SCENAR dampens the body’s signal (sedation). It continues to “talk” with the body in this way until the signals it receives indicate that the body is moving toward normalization or homeostasis. The principal peculiarity of the SCENAR biofeedback is that each signal is different from the preceding one. That is why the signal does not diminish and there is no process of habituation and failure of the body to respond, as is the case with other electo-neurostimulation modalties, such as TENS.

The SCENAR signal causes the release of bio active substances by nerve cells called neuropeptides. Physiological functions are under the control of a whole range of neruopeptides including chemical compounds called regulatory peptides which trigger all of the complex functions the body carries out to maintain homeostasis. Thus the SCENAR creates a cascade of “conversation” in the body about a particular pathology, motivating the body to address the issue and heal itself. In this way, SCENAR treatment can address pain and support the body’s efforts to heal the issue causing the pain.

Benefits and Applications of SCENAR

So, what does SCENAR do that is different from what traditional medicine offers for pain relief? The biggest benefit is that it alleviates pain rapidly without drugs or  invasive procedures. Using the body’s own adaptive capacity, the SCENAR wakes up the brain and central nervous system to the areas of pain that need attention, and often accelerates the body’s process of doing what it is designed to do: HEAL ITSELF. Although drugs can provide pain relief, they often interfere with the body’s self-healing ability and create negative “side effects”. What we are trying to do is relieve our pain, but we may end up constipated or woozy or addicted.

SCENAR causes the release of regulatory chemicals called neuropeptides, including endorphins, which naturally alleviate pain. By using frequencies native to the body, SCENAR supports the body in doing the healing work that is its natural capacity. So, not only does the SCENAR alleviate pain, but it supports the body in healing the issue that is creating the pain. Because it speaks to the body in the body’s own language, it can speed up the healing ability so that positive results occur more rapidly than could be accomplished without it.

Under what circumstances and conditions is getting a SCENAR treatment helpful? Although pain is always a good indicator that a treatment would be helpful, the SCENAR, in its support of the body healing itself, can affect other dynamics besides  pain. For instance, the SCENAR has an anti-inflammatory effect, anti-venom effect,  it lowers fever, reduces swelling and edema in general, promotes tissue regeneration, and helps the body in its effort to restore homeostasis. So, it can have a wide ranging effect from fast recovery of  insect stings to muscle strains and sprains, and  from chronic pain syndromes to post operative recovery. In Russia, the SCENAR accompanies the ambulance responders and is also used in hospitals to promote a quicker recovery from surgical procedures without having to use as many pain medications.

So, in essence, the SCENAR can be helpful anytime there is a need to recover the body’s natural balance, whether an imbalance occurs from injury, pain, surgery, infection or anything else. We carry our SCENAR everywhere with us, just in case. On many occassions, we have been glad we did.
