In researching what can be done to naturally protect against swine flu, the role of Vitamin D3 in maintaining respiratory health has emerged. The BBC reported that in a study of 14,091 people by the Universtiy of Auckland, those with higher levels of Vitamin D in their blood had significantly better lung function.
Because of the concern about skin cancer and the use of sun screens, Vitamin D deficiency is becoming more and more prevelant. This deficiency has been linked to many conditions including heart attack, stroke, and cancer. The recommended daily allowance is 200 IU which cannot even begin to deal with deficiency. The skin produces approximately 10,000 IU vitamin D in response 20–30 minutes summer sun exposure—50 times more than the US government’s recommendation of 200 IU per day!
It is suggested that if you are interested in finding out whether or not you are deficient, ask your doctor for a test of your blood serum for 1,25-dihyroxy D3 levels to determine the proper level of supplementation required. Healthy blood serum levels are between 50–80 ng/mL (or 125–200 nM/L). If you are deficient, your doctor can recommend a therapeutic dosage. Due to Vitamin D3’s high safety profile in doses up to 10,000 IU per day and because of the wide role it plays in our health, consuming 2,000 to 4,000 IU per day of this nutrient at times of the year when sunlight is scarce is a prudent way to improve overall health.
You can also eat more foods rich in Vitamin D, including cold-water fish (particularly fatty fish such as wild salmon, halibut and cod), eggs and fortified foods like milk, which has 100 IU of Vitamin D per cup (however, milk has its own issues).
There is a plethora of information on the web about Vitamin D deficiency. The ones used for this post are:

What an enticing name!
This post is a bit off topic, but not really. Because the action of SCENAR can be explained by the biochemical/mechanical idea (nerves releasing neuropeptides that heal an area) and acupunture (its energetic affect on the meridians and meridian points), as well as “quantum medicine”, bioenergetics and body energetic “fields”; the application of the “quantum” idea has become fascinating to me.
The latest documentary to arrive on the scene is called The Quantum Activist. Because of its arrival, I have created a page to continue the exploration of quantum ideas called Quantumly Curious? You will find there more information about this new documentary, and there will be ongoing posts as new information is discovered about the application of “quantum” to anything that my research efforts can produce.
This type of pain is not typically mentioned in the statistics, but we have found the SCENAR to work better with the pain from dental procedures than the drugs they give you. It is also really good for mouth ulcers and accidental bites to the interior of the mouth, shortening the recovery time dramatically. If you have a gum irritation on the inside surface of the teeth, there is an acuprobe attachment that can be used in the mouth to access and treat the area. We have been successful in treating pain in the mandibular joint as well. We don’t recommend using the SCENAR to avoid going to the dentist, however.
Dental pain is inescapable. It is very difficult to ignore and is often aggravated by eating. Having a way to deal with that pain is only one of the many reasons owning a SCENAR can improve your quality of life.
We don’t think selling SCENARs to others without training and support (such as online websites do) is the best way for people to experience SCENAR ownership. If someone is interested in owning a SCENAR and they have had positive experiences in treatments with it, we believe they should also have support and ongoing training in ownership, so they can be the most efficacious with it. We are just a phone call away from our clients who have purchased SCENARs from us to answer questions as they come up. We also have ongoing training as well as the SCENAR OWNERS page on this blog where we post protocols and tips for using their machine in the most effective ways. We password protect that page for obvious reasons.
If you are curious about SCENAR call Healing Innovations at 828-337-6854 and we can discuss your questions and what options might be in your best interest. If you have never tried a SCENAR treatment, we would recommend you do so before considering buying one.
Chronic pain is difficult. It can take the pleasure out of living. Most of the people who come to Healing Innovations have long standing pain for which they have tried all manner of things to relieve it. Although the process for treating chronic pain with the SCENAR reqires more time, it can bring relief where hope was lost (see our “What Our Clients Say” page).
We can categorize the issues people bring to us into four main areas: low back/hip, neck/shoulder, knees, and extremities like foot, wrist or hand pain. Treatments involve working not only with the direct area of pain, but also with the body as a whole to reawaken it to the problem. Chronic pain conditions emerge from poor healing of an injury usually as a result of repetitive stress on the area (it’s hard not to walk even though the knee/foot/hip is complaining about it). The body seems to “forget” about healing chronic areas. It can’t seem to get ahead of the reinjuring that is going on, so it does its best to “stablize” the area. This is when pain becomes chronic. All the while the pain fibers are always doing their job of alerting your consciousness to a problem your body is having. You are conscious of the problem, but your body may have disconnected from the area to the degree that there are no signals getting out to alert it that the area needs healing. The SCENAR simply awakens it. Once awakened, the body goes about what it does to heal itself.
That sounds simple, but chronic pain issues are very complex. For example, the SCENAR can only provide temporary relief if there is a structural problem that needs correcting. Other modalities such as chiropractic or osteopathic care can speed the healing that SCENAR treatments initiate by correcting structural problems that are underneath the issue of pain. SCENAR works very well in concert with physical therapy as well, both to relieve the pain that sometimes results from PT treatments, but also mobilze the body’s resouces toward recovery.
There are things that an individual can do to minimize their chronic pain. On the “Healing Tips” page are suggestions about how to release your own neuropeptides, among them being endorphins which stop pain. There are also instructions on how to do a mindfulness meditation that may be helpful.
If you have chronic pain and want to try SCENAR to see what it can do for you, call us at 828-337-6854 for a free 30 minute introductory session.
Since September 3, I’ve been visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren in New Jersey. On my first night there, not being used to climbing over baby gates (my granddaughter is 14 months old), I caught my left braced foot on the top of the gate I was attempting to get over, and down that gate and I went. I landed on my right knee (my good one) with my full weight and momentum. Falls at my age with Post Polio Syndrome are scary. All kinds of less than wonderful scenarios passed through my mind about what kind of effect the fall might have on my visit, as I went down. I hobbled over to the couch to assess the damage. I had nearly drawn blood from the carpet burn, but not quite. The area was dark red, and beginning to swell. I reached for the SCENAR and began treating the knee with the protocols for acute injury. After 20 minutes the pain was gone. I put ice on it for another 15 minutes, and when I stood up after that, it felt ok. The next morning, I hadn’t even thought about my knee, with all the excitement of an awakening family, until my son asked me about it. I looked at it. No redness, no swelling, no bruising, and the abrasion looked like a patch of dry skin. I’ve not had any further issues with it at all.
It is always fun when a client comes in to Healing Innovations with pain that is the result of a recent injury. The results, although not as dramatic as if treatment could have been given moments after the injury, are generally dramatic and exciting. The SCENAR is good to use post surgery for the same reason, and those we’ve worked on have recovered faster and with less pain than anticipated.
We have also worked with athletes in training and they found that their training progressed with much less discomfort and with increased stamina and energy.
In Russia the SCENAR is called the “ambulance in a box.” Its applications with acute injury deserve that description.
If you are an athlete in training or if you have had a recent acute injury or surgery, call Healing Innovations for a 30% discount on a treatment. Just mention that you read about it on the blog to get the discount.

As if we weren’t aware of it enough already!
Pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined! It is estimated that seventy-six million Americans suffer with chronic pain. Pain of any type is the most frequent reason for physician consultation in the US and eighty-five percent of pain patients leave their physician consultation without a specific diagnosis. The annual cost of chronic pain in the US including health care expenses, lost income, and lost productivity is estimated to be $100 billion. In the most recent Complementary and Alternative survey released July 31 of this year, it was found that American adults are most likely to use CAM therapies to treat pain. As the population ages coupled with the stressful American lifestyle, this trend is unlikely to do anything but increase.
Clients frequently come to us after having spent a great deal of money and time in conventional therapies of drugs, phyiscal therapy, and surgery, only to have their pain return. They are often discouraged. Alternative therapies, based in the body-mind concept, work with pain from a much broader perspective and can offer pain relief through a variety of modalities (which can be somewhat overwhelming to someone just beginning to explore the alternative options).
Over this month, we will provide information about pain itself and pain relief related to the major alternative modalities including SCENAR, as well as provide information on ways that individuals can diminish their experience of pain themselves.
For more information on research being done related to pain and alternative therapies, you can go to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine website.
